Andes Mountains

The Andes Mountains is the worlds longest exposed mountain range. It is over 4,300 miles long and from 120 to 430 miles wide. The average height is around 13,000 feet. The Andes Mountains not only extend along most of chile, they also touch six other countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela.
The highest peak in the mountain range is Aconcagua, which is 22,840 feet above sea level. The Andes were formed from subduction of the Nazca plate under the South American plate. Results of the plates still moving are many earthquakes and active volcanoes (Wikipedia).
